Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, has revealed that his ministry has received express consent from the government to begin federal road construction/rehabilitation in Kogi State.
He also discussed the methods being considered to hasten the process without delay.
Umahi spoke during a visit to his office in Mabushi, Abuja, by Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor-elect Usman Ododo.
During the visit, Governor Bello expressed gratitude to Senator Umahi for his support and solidarity in helping the Governor-elect win the Kogi State governorship election on November 11.
Governor Bello expressed confidence that Ododo will continue to deliver major infrastructure development to Kogi State upon his inauguration on January 27, 2024, improving the people’s and the All Progressives Congress’ pride.
Senator Umahi responded by congratulating the Governor-elect, noting that his election reflected the people of Kogi State’s yearning for continuity and consolidation. He praised Governor Bello’s accomplishments in road construction, education, health infrastructure, and other vital sectors, and expressed confidence that Ododo will build on these achievements.
He asked the governor-elect to honor the faith placed in him by the people and the party by carrying out his campaign pledges.

He also praised Governor Bello for his persistent support for the ruling party’s growth at both the state and federal levels, calling Governor Bello’s dedication to the success of the APC-led Federal Government “unprecedented.”
He praised Governor Bello’s efforts to provide the benefits of democracy to the people of his state, emphasizing that his achievements will be appreciated even more after he left office.
The minister indicated that ongoing projects, such as the Ganaja road restoration, would be built with concrete, in accordance with the Federal Government’s aim of ensuring long-lasting roads in Nigeria.
Earlier, in his guarantee to Umahi, the Governor-elect reiterated his dedication to the confidence given upon him by the people. He thanked the minister for his assistance and promised to improve the existing partnership between the state and the federal government through the Ministry of Works.
Ododo informed the minister that his administration is ready to implement the current administration’s infrastructure master plan for Kogi.
