Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano State, has appointed Wole Olanipekun (SAN), a well-known legal scholar, to lead the battle to recapture power in the Court of Appeal, just days after his election was annulled by a tribunal.
The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sacked Yusuf last month and declared his opponent, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election.
Yusuf filed a 42-ground appeal with the appellate court, disputing the tribunal’s finding and seeking that the tribunal’s judgment be set aside as well as the APC’s petition be dismissed.

Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru, and Akintola Makinde are also on the governor’s legal team, with Wole Olanipekun & Co managing the appeal and Chief E.O.B. Offiong (APC) serving as the APC’s counsel.
