Kingmakers tasked with selecting the next Emir of Kano have arrived at the State Government House for the eagerly awaited appointment of the new first-class monarch.
Leading the delegation to the governor’s office was Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani, the Madakin Kano and head of the kingmakers.
According to Daily Trust, the governor is expected to sign a bill shortly that will repeal the Kano emirates council law.
The law, previously enacted by the past administration in the state, led to the deposition of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi and the division of the Kano emirates into five regions.
However, on Thursday, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-controlled assembly voted against the law and sent a bill to Governor Abba Yusuf.
Sources said that Yusuf is likely to sign the bill and reinstate Sanusi as the Emir.
