In a significant development, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano.
This decision was announced on Thursday following the governor’s approval of the newly enacted emirate council law at the Government House in Kano.
Governor Yusuf signed the law at precisely 5:10 PM, in the presence of his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly, and other key government officials.
This legislative action reverses the controversial changes made by the previous administration, which had led to Sanusi’s dethronement by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020, a move largely attributed to personal conflicts.
The reinstatement of Sanusi marks a pivotal moment in the Kano emirate’s history, potentially restoring traditional structures and addressing the political and social issues that arose from the previous administration’s decisions.
