In a concerning development, a Nigerian Army officer, identified as Charles Ogbonna, has reportedly been abducted by unknown gunmen in Makurdi, Benue State, near an army barracks.
Ogbonna, a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO), was last seen driving out of the barracks en route to Agenebode.
According to SaharaReporters, Ogbonna’s car was later found abandoned along the Naka-Makurdi road, with his military identity card left inside. The discovery of his vehicle has raised alarm within the military community.
Sources within the military revealed that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N5 million for Ogbonna’s release and have made contact with his wife to negotiate the terms.
