A 45-year-old woman was killed by a five-metre python while returning from her garden in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province, local media reported on Saturday.
The woman had informed her husband on Thursday that she intended to sell chilies to a local collector.
When she did not return, her worried husband and family members began a search, recounted village head Suardi Rosi.
The following morning, villagers discovered a large python near the woman’s deserted belongings.
Familiar with these dangerous reptiles, the villagers killed the snake and upon cutting it open, found the woman’s body inside, Rosi confirmed.
