The Kano State Police Command has announced the prohibition of Durbar activities throughout the state.
This decision, communicated by Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, comes amidst security concerns.
The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, had previously summoned district heads for Durbar and requested police assistance to ensure security.
However, citing security reports and consultations with relevant stakeholders, the police have opted to enforce the ban in the interest of public safety during the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
In a statement, the police assured Muslim faithful and residents of Kano of adequate security measures to maintain peace throughout the festive period.
The police also emphasized the importance of conducting Eid prayers at designated grounds as customary, while encouraging continued cooperation from all sectors to enhance community safety.
The police also urged vigilance among residents, advising them to promptly report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement agencies.
