The Federal Government, FG, has announced that Monday and Tuesday will be public holidays in celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
This was revealed in a statement on Friday by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, extending congratulations to Muslims both within the country and abroad.
The Minister urged the Muslim community to embrace the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also encouraged them to use this time to pray for national unity, prosperity, and stability.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to protecting lives and property across Nigeria. He wished the Muslim community a joyous Eid-ul-Adha and called on all Nigerians to contribute to building a prosperous future for the next generation.
Earlier, on June 7, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, announced that Eid-el-Kabir would be observed on Sunday, June 16, following the confirmation that Friday marked the beginning of Dhul Hijjah. This announcement was made in a statement by Sambo Junaid, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, in Sokoto State.
The Sultan extended his best wishes to Nigerian Muslims, hoping for Allah’s guidance and blessings. He also encouraged continuous prayers for the nation’s peace, progress, and development, wishing all Muslims a blessed Eid-el-Kabir.
