Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially sworn in the Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Councils of the state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt.
These chairmen were previously screened and confirmed by the Assembly led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo. This move is part of the government’s efforts to ensure smooth local governance following the expiration of the tenure of the elected council chairmen.
Governor Fubara’s decision to appoint caretaker committees aims to maintain continuity in local government operations and address any administrative gaps.
The newly sworn-in chairmen are expected to assume their duties immediately, ensuring the effective administration of their respective local government areas.
