The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Senator Gabriel Suswam was pronounced the victor of the February 25 election for the Benue Northeast senatorial district by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which is based in Makurdi, Benue State.
The tribunal’s decision, which went on for more than three hours, removed Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the National Assembly’s upper chambers.
Suswam, a senator from the 9th senate, had failed in his attempt to win re-election to the National Assembly’s upper house.
The petitioners’ compliance with the law’s requirements and the judgment that was rendered in their favor pleased the tribunal.
Cites the recent dismissal of two APC senators from the Kogi State National Assembly election tribunal, Jibrin Isah (Kogi East) and Sadiku Ohere (Kogi Central), as well as the dismissal of another senator from the ruling party, Thomas Joel-Onowakpo (Delta South), by a tribunal meeting in Asaba on Thursday.
