The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Peter Mbah won the governorship election in Enugu State in March 2023, but the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, Uche Nnaji, and his party appealed that decision to the Supreme Court, but it was rejected.
The APC and Nnaji’s legal team, according to Justice Tijani Abubakar’s ruling, submitted an ineffective brief of argument and failed to persuade the court with strong arguments as to why the appellants’ brief should be accepted.

Justice Abubakar continued by stating that the appeal in question suffered as a result of their brief’s invalidity because it was determined to be flawed.
He then rejected the APC’s appeal as well as Nnaji’s brief.
