Muhammadu Sanusi, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been formally reinstated as the Emir of Kano.
Governor Abba Yusuf presented Sanusi with his letter of appointment on Friday, marking his return to the throne four years after his deposition.
The reinstatement ceremony took place at the Government House in Kano, attended by traditional rulers, kingmakers, and other dignitaries.
This significant event followed closely on the heels of Governor Yusuf signing the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law, just a day earlier.
The new law replaces the Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019 and dissolves the emirate councils that were created under the previous administration of Governor Ganduje.
Sanusi’s return as Emir symbolizes a new chapter in the governance and traditional leadership of Kano State.
