On Saturday morning, a tanker transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) overturned and exploded at the Ibafo section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in significant traffic congestion.
Mrs. Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta. She reported that the Ogun State Fire Service is actively working to extinguish the blaze at the scene.
“FRSC operatives from the Ibafo outpost are currently on site, managing the traffic situation,” Okpe said. “There is a considerable traffic buildup from Ago Igbala, near the crash site, extending to MFM Prayer City on the outward Lagos section of the expressway.”
Okpe assured the public that comprehensive details of the incident would be released as soon as they are available. The authorities are working diligently to manage the traffic and ensure the safety of motorists in the affected area.
