President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Mr. Ayodeji Ariyo Gbeleyi as the new Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
According to a statement released on Saturday by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, Mr. Gbeleyi is a distinguished financial expert and an award-winning chartered accountant.
The statement highlights Gbeleyi’s credentials: “He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). Additionally, he has completed executive programs at the London Business School, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and Lagos Business School.
“With over three decades of post-qualification experience across various sectors such as manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), investment and commercial banking, project finance, telecommunications, infrastructure, and public administration, Gbeleyi brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. His past positions include serving as the board Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and Commissioner of Finance in Lagos State from 2013 to 2015.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Gbeleyi’s capabilities, expecting him to leverage his extensive experience to enhance the BPE’s function as a national resource center. The President anticipates Gbeleyi will promote a competitive, private sector-driven economy, ensure social accountability, and improve the efficient use of public resources while advancing corporate governance and fiduciary discipline in both public and private sectors.”
