In a surprising development, Finidi George has reportedly resigned from his role as the head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles.
The decision comes shortly after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to bring in a foreign technical adviser, which is believed to have influenced Finidi’s choice to step down.
Confirmation of his resignation was shared by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, via his social media account.
“Breaking News: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position,” Ibitoye tweeted.
Finidi, who took over the coaching reins on April 29, 2024, following the expiration of Jose Peseiro’s contract, had a brief tenure marked by a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
